I am deeply disturbed

Like many of you, there isn't anything I can put my finger on. It is sort of irritating that God hasn't hit the United states with a giant fly swatter from outer space.

My mom passed away last night

My mom died last night. She was old and her health has been failing. She was still ambulatory. She is an incredible woman and I look forward to seeing her again soon.

Let it be

The Beatles wrote a great song, let it be. It's fun to sing the song and hum along, but the song's message isn't supported by bible text. Let's look at all the places Mary talks to Jesus, or attempts to. Oddly enough, in none of these three places is she called by her name.

Matthew 12:46] While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.
[47] Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.
[48] But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?

Jesus' mother is seeking to interrupt His teaching, and seems to have brought the family as reinforcements. There is no indication that Jesus talks to her. 

Luke 2:42] And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.

[43] And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it.
[44] But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance.
[45] And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him.
[46] And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.
[47] And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.
[48] And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.
[49] And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?

In this instance Mary rebukes Jesus and He avoids apologizing by replying with a question, A tactic He uses elsewhere. Any hint of wrong doing on Jesus' part would have been inappropriate. 

John.2

[1] And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:
[2] And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.
[3] And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.
[4] Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.
[5] His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.
[6] And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
[7] Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

In this encounter Jesus attempts to sidestep her request, but she won't take the hint!  She almost forces Jesus to comply.

It's somewhat humorous to imagine these passages revised with the 'let it be' Mary, but of course that too would be inappropriate.

You'll know when it's right

Is it true that you were deeply troubled by the results of the previous presidential election? listen, to defeat righteousness requires self discipline. look at Obama, did he go around making statements like that? no, he understands that evil must grow quietly, and then rise up at once to destroy righteousness. Come on think man! As Jesus pointed out, there is truly only one good, the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. and so any elected president is going to have flaws. and some of these flaws are not really very funny. but better to recognize your flaws and work on them than to Simply deny them or worse yet, view them as strengths. Yes the election results were troubling, a land slide victory would have been more appropriate.

You know what they say? The true size of a man is determined by how he treats his enemies.
