What ever happened to the pine beetle ?

Are they still out there eating every last pine tree in Colorado?

We go up to Dillon occasionally. The mountain sides were covered with beautiful pine trees at one time. Then the pine beetle went nonlinear and the mountain sides turned brown.

 Currently some areas of Colorado seem unaffected. Is it just a matter of time before all pine trees are wiped out? Will the aspen tree reign supreme?
